The ease of digital access to ideas and written content has led to an increased appreciation of the book as a physical object. Similarly, bookshops and libraries are being redesigned to resemble galleries, no longer putting emphasis on catalog-based functionality. Such example is the recent redesign of the Moscow bookstore:
Selfridges also launched a pop-up library in the transformed Selfridges London Ultralounge, as part of their Words Words Words concept. The shop also sells “beautiful books” and stationery motivating shoppers to “log off”:
And while apple’s new iBooks Author app makes publishing your own book as easy as snapping an Instagram shot, Postagram is banking on the appeal of the tangible. I guess it won’t be long until we decide to print our iBooks on Berg’s Little Printer!
